The strength and age of the Amish wood creates a refined natural look while the onyx gives the feeling of calm and serenity. When backlit, the glowing onyx gives the piece a dramatic, powerful and dominant mood. The glowing piece is wonderfully hypnotic and allows the viewer to observe the various shades and rose petal like morsels in the onyx. The custom built-in steel hanging system creates its own unique touch bringing a modern feel to the piece’s old world charm as it appears to float off the wall with just a few small steal dowels. The manipulation of the weathered wood, onyx, and steel lends itself to my type of art called Cultured Nature.
